Why does Emerald Valley Kitchen use containers made of # 5 plastic?
We use a # 5 injection molded tub because we hot-pack most of our products, including our hummus and bean dips. #1 and #2 and #4 types of plastic will not maintain integrity when filled with 190 product. For our cold packed salsa, #2 plastic does not allow good clarity and unfortunately, in the salsa category, people seem to want to clearly see what they are getting.
