Why does ECM take a Pro-Life position?
Every Child Ministries is dedicated to helping African children, and unborn children are still children. We believe that considered scientifically, it is obvious that human life begins at conception. When egg and sperm join, that new life has already all the full genetic material that it will ever have. With adults, we often give a brain wave test if there has been a serious accident or illness. If brain waves are present, we say the person is still alive. Before a woman realizes she is pregnant, already the tiny baby has a beating heart and measurable brain waves. There is just no reasonable standard by which we can say that the developing child is not a child. And if it is a child, then it has special dignity as being created in the image of God.
