Why does DanceSafe focus so much attention on the use of the illegal drug Ecstasy?
Two simple reasons: 1. It is statistically more deadly to take fake, adulterated ecstasy than it is to take the real thing. In the interest of harm reduction, it is our duty to identify what is real and what is fake for those who have already chosen to take it. More specific research concerning the safety of ecstasy (real and adulterated), can be found in our Ecstasy Reports section. 2. Ecstasy use within the electronic dance community is, in our opinion, doing more damage to our scene than any other variable. This is due in part because there are no real objective resources available to users about the risks associated with ecstasy use. By focusing our efforts on awareness of this particular drug, we reduce the potential for tragedies to occur within our scene, and, in the long run, we can keep the scene alive and well.
