Why does CSL International operate ships under foreign flag?
A8. CSL International operates its ships under foreign flag, as do all major international shipping companies, to remain competitive in the international marketplace. It is important to recognize however, that a majority of The CSL Group fleet – 15 of 24 ships are Canadian flagged, pay Canadian taxes and are Canadian crewed. Moreover, 500 of the 700 employees are based in Canada. All 8 vessels owned and operated under foreign flag were acquired as such and never operated under Canadian flag.
