Why does CSAT log me off prior to the 20 minute timeout period?
The primary reason for being ‘timed out’ early is not related to time but is because your IP number has changed during a CSAT session. Many organizations use proxy servers between their users and the Internet to help protect their users from malicious sites. CSAT normally works fine with proxy servers, but some organizations (usually larger organizations) have multiple proxy servers and requests to the internet might use more than one of the servers during a ‘session’. Due to the sensitive nature of the data collected by CSAT, it requires a persons IP address to remain the same throughout a session. This helps to prevent cookie hijacking attack scenarios. If the IP address changes within a session, the person is automatically logged out. It is this log out that most people are seeing as a time out. How to determine if you are using a proxy server. 1) If you are running windows, click Start, click Run and type cmd.exe in the Open dialog. This should open a new command window. In the new
