Why does cream float over milk…is the density of ice less or more than water…?
Yes the fat floats on the water because it is lighter than the water is. The density of ice is less than that of water. When you put water in an ice tray and freeze it the water expands. Now remember that when a liquid turns to a solid it isn’t a chemical reaction its a physical one which means that there aren’t any more water molecules when it freezes than when it was liquid. Therefore when it expands and since there aren’t any new molecules the density of the ice is less than that of water.
