Why does changing the description of a debt change a creditors rights in bankruptcy?
Some forms of bankruptcy litigation allow creditors to object to the discharge of debts owed to them. In bankruptcy, many debts can be discharged or dissolved, but some debts cannot be treated this way, and the obligation to pay survives the bankruptcy. Creditors can argue that their debts are non-dischargeable because they belong to one of these categories, entitling them to collect from the debtor.
