Why does Borax produce crystals?

0

Do you mean as it cools? If you have added Borax salts to hot water until it is saturated then as it cools the Borax comes out of solution. Hot water can hold more salt in solution than gold water. (gases go the other way, they dissolve better in cold water and boil out of hot) One of the reasons is that hot water has more kinetic energy in the molecules and that keeps the salt molecules bouncing around too much to form crystals.
