Why does black sabbath get a bad rep?
First – hooray I’m about to pass 2500 points by answering this question! Second, I’ve been listening to Black Sabbath since 1971 and the other answers to this question are misinformed because they talk about Ozzy post 1979 after he left Black Sabbath. Yes, Ozzy did do some weird stuff, but all of it was after he left Sabbath and went on his own (bit head off dove, bit head off bat, peed on Alamo, etc etc). Additionally the lawsuit filed against Ozzy regarding the suicide was for the song Suicide Solution which was a solo career song. Black Sabbath has a bad rep for various reasons and I want to state that this is entirely my opinion and not based on solid evidence although I have worked in the media for more than 25 years. Black Sabbath’s name did not help them at all. Record executives seeing their name and seeing four Christian guys wearing crosses thought they might be anti-semitic.
