• Battersea Dogs & Cat Home is the only animal rescue that takes in all stray dogs and cats, no matter what their health or behaviour issues may be. Many shelters have a selective intake policy which means that they don’t take dogs with behavioural or medical issues. We will take all dogs that are in need of our help and unfortunately, this means that we sometimes have to make the sad decision to put animals to sleep. However our experienced veterinary team and behaviour specialists work with the animals to address health issues and rehabilitate them where possible. Battersea’s kennels and catteries usually operate at full capacity and whilst we never turn away a dog or cat in need of our help, we do sometimes have to run a waiting list system. This means that if people wish to give their animal to us we may need to ask them to wait until we have sufficient space to accommodate the animal.
