ATI has a function called PowerPlay that is intended to prolong battery life. • (Nvidia does not have a similar function.) • This function reduces the display to 16 colors when activated. A side efect of this is that OpenGL is also disabled. This forces Autodesk Inventor&reg to switch to software emulation for OpenGL support. • To return to normal operation the user has to connect to power and re-start Autodesk Inventor®. • See the following for additional information: • I have just installed a new driver on Windows 2000 or Windows XP, but have very slow performance. • I have installed a tested driver correctly and I do not have any hardware acceleration. • Older versions of Autodesk Inventor&reg would lock into the emulation mode once a driver is detected without OpenGl support.
