Why does auto refresh cause the portal to go back to the main tab selection?
If the UWL page is setup on a page with the wrong Isolation Method specified it will cause this problem. Go to the Content administration > Portal Content area and find the UWL page and/or IView being reference on the page. Open it and find the attribute labeled Isolation Method, make sure it is set to URL. Also, change the attribute of size to Automatic.
