Why does Aracruz plant only eucalyptus to produce wood and pulp and not other species?
Eucalyptus offers several advantages compared to other forest species, including native trees. Thanks to Brazil’s favorable climate and the Company’s achievements in forestry research and technology, Aracruz’ eucalyptus (in its plantations located in Espírito Santo and Bahia) can be harvested at an average age of six years for pulp production pulp manufacturing when it reaches 35 meters in height. For Lyptus, noble wood used for decoration and the production of furniture, the eucalyptus is harvested on average at 18 years of age.
