There is one famous statue that has the arms off but these were broken off at some point in time by natural causes, most likely. You would have to get the full details of the story or myth behind the disappearance of Aphrodite’s arms. Several other statues which have been attributed to being statues of Venus or Aphrodite have the arms intact. But, they just have never had the aura of “mystery” and speculation as has this armless statue. I suspect there are many stories about how the armless Aphrodite came to light in the archaelogical digs where it was recovered.
