Why does Anakin Skywalker join / turn to the dark side of the Force?
In Star Wars Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith, Palpatine makes Anakin Skywalker his personal bodyguard. Subsequently, with several other Jedi Knights, Mace Windu confronts Palpatine and Anakin ends up combating Mace Windu to protect Palpatine. This is when Anakin chooses to join the dark side and follow the path of darkness.
