Why does American Databank include court cases that were dismissed?
Many cases that are dismissed are dismissed on the condition that the defendant complete probation, pay fines, community service, drug rehabilitation, restitution, etc. If the defendant does not comply or complete the terms imposed by the courts can impose a guilty verdict with a higher sentence. American Databank prefers to eliminate the possibility of misreading or misinterpreting the disposition on the case and therefore we include all court cases regardless of the disposition.
