Why does AGI-Light stop after 1000 steps and prompt to continue?
A. We had noticed that many users were not aware of the meaning of Convergence or Steps and were simply allowing the program to stop the radiosity process after the default 1000 steps and compute the point-by-point. If the convergence is not close to .01, the remaining light in the environment is not considered in the point-by-point calculations and you will see lower values than expected (how much lower depends on the environment). AGI-Light displays the convergence reached after the Maximum Number of Steps setting and asks if you would like to continue the computation for another iteration through the Maximum Number of Steps setting. If the setting for convergence is still not reached, the program will prompt again. Needless to say, this is tedious and it is not desirable to baby-sit the computer so you can be around when it asks again! The solution is to change the default setting for the Maximum Number of Steps (Tools-System Settings). We recommend that you change the default from
