Why does a weight lifter rapidly lift when doing the snap lift ?

I think this has more to do with leverage and momentum. The weight lifter lifts more than the average person can – but it’s not just because he’s stronger. It’s a combination of strength coupled with technique. Part of his technique is to maximize momentum (the tendency of an object in motion to stay in motion) and leverage. Moving the weight quickly allows him to handle more weight than he could otherwise – it also may increase the risk of injury, because the technique must be exactly right. Usually there is less risk of injury when moving a weight slowly – but of course he wouldn’t be able to use as much weight.
