Why does a volcano erupt in certain periods of Earths history?
Volcanoes have been erupting throughout most periods of the Earth’s history (there are currently more than 35 active volcanoes right around the world), but at times there are more of them than others. This can be related to how the continents are arranged, and whether there are any large weak spots in the Earth’s crust where lava can reach the surface.
