Why does a Theatre Director have the most important and creative role?

0

The director is the one who looks at the script and has an idea about how this play can be successfully executed. Sometimes, the idea is very strong, and includes not only the casting and blocking, but the visual aspect, the soundscape, and the costumes. Sometimes, the director knows people who can help to pull it together, a great costumer, lighting designer, set designer, etc., and will pull ideas from those people, with less of his/her own input. The director is the team leader for the creative team, and for the actors. S/he is responsible for getting the play up, is and accountable to the producers. A good director/stage manager team is the best way to ensure that you will have a quality production.
