Why does a registered latent hit years later?
When a print doesn’t hit on it’s initial scanning even though the subject may be in the data base it could be for many reasons. The most likely reason is the finger in the database was of poor quality. Later when the subject is arrested again a better rolled impression replaces the poor one and is checked against the registered latents.
