Why does a mercedes420sel V8 engine cut out?
There are several circuits that will cause an engine to cut out…..and i have witnessed the best of them….an EZL control unit…crank sensor….Fuel pump relays….fuelpumps….coils and coil wire….as you can see it could be a number of things but heres a easy solution…..the next time it acts up on you simply have a friend bump itover and listen for the fuel pumps,you should hear the buzz…if not they are not working…replace the relay…the solder joints inside crack and cause intermittant stalls…. if pumps work check for a sparkif no spark,If no spark ground a test light and place the tip on the negetive side of the coil and again have a friend try to start it….the test light should pulse or flash….if not the EZL is not working…a bad crank sensor will not allow the EZL to function so make sure it’s ok…. keep in mind they can and will cause stalling and cuttimg out symptoms……if absolutely sure it’s ok …..more than likely the EZL is bad…. It lives on the left
