A memory card needs to be reformatted when you switch to a different phone like switching from LG to Motorola. Your memory card is able to read LG’s operating system and not able to read Motorola’s operating system. Reformatting the memory card wipes the out all the data from LG operating system and then preparing it for the new Motorola operating system.
