It was at the end of 1946 when 3M patented its innovative vinyl electrical tape. 3M is the only company that manufactures vinyl electrical tape in the USA. It is held to the most exacting tolerances and safety standards of flammability and UV fading. 3M’s Super 33+ tape along with their color-coding versions — Scotch 35 & the thicker 8.5 mil. version, Scotch 88, have become the benchmarks by which all other electrical tapes are judged.
