Why do you use mylar film instead of plain paper?

The inkjet compatible mylar film has an almost mirror like finish, which means that when used properly you can make plates that look like chromed metal or shiny gold. I could have used plain paper, of course, but I really wanted the shiny metal look. And mylar is very shiny.
