Why do you think e-learning has been successful at Powys?
Because Powys County Council covers a large geographic area the e-learning makes good economical sense for us. It removes the need for staff to take time out of the office for courses held elsewhere in the region, possibly with an overnight stay. Time and money are both saved with an e-learning equivalent. Since our early days and with the help of our Learning Pool account manager, Dawn Stacey, we’ve made great progress. There’s now a team of us in place and we are ambitious to include multi-media in our courses too. We’ve used our Learning Pool DLE (dynamic learning environment) to track and monitor learner activity, especially for our mandatory courses, and it has great functionality like forums, podcasts and glossaries for us to use in the future. The DLE doesn’t just deliver our e-learning – we’ve actually developed it to be more like an intranet for all our L&D activity. What’s next for your e-learning plans? We’re going through a period of uncertainty and change at the moment bec
