Why do you sew vintage patterns, aren’t they harder then new ones?
I don’t just sew any one kind of pattern. If you look, you’re as likely to see vintage as you are modern. The biggest reason is I have them, and therefore I don’t have to buy them. A large part of it is fit and style: they fit better on me and are timeless enough I can use them instead of buying a new pattern that looks just like it, in the end giving me a garment that I can wear for many years. As to difficultly, they’re really not. I learned on these patterns, and so I’m used to them, but I still occasionally have to refer to books or modern patterns since the biggest problem with vintage ones is the fact they expected you to know basic construction techniques, especially the ones from the mid-60s and earlier, and even then, it’s only on about 10% of the patterns I have that it’s even a problem. Even some of my early ones from the 50s explained the step, but if you’re new, you may need a little more explanation then given.
