Why do you need to know my username and password?AOL and other services don’t need it, so what gives you the right to ask for my personal information?
Well, we’ve got three answers for this one: o Short, technical answer: Without your username and password on record in our database, it would be impossible for the authentication server to be allowed to assign you to an address on the digital routers that actually grant you access to the Internet. o Long, layman’s answer: AOL, MSN, and other similar services DO have your username and password on file for their Customer Support Representitives to use in case you call with a problem.Just because you don’t write it on a piece of paper or talk to anyone when you sign up, doesn’t mean they don’t have access to that information. It wouldn’t be possible for you to get online with ANY ISP (Internet Service Provider) without there being a record of your username and password. o Short, layman’s answer:‘Cause we need it, ya knucklehead!
