Why do you limit the number of Free User Slots on BitCandy?
Well, here’s the thing, the logistics of Internet radio can get expensive very quickly. Even after our BitCandy architecture was built at a significant research and development expense, the daily costs are: artist royalties, staff, overhead, bandwidth, licensing, legal, CD costs/downloads, etc. And while music in some circumstances or other platforms are being accessed for free (**Please Note: the recent perception by some that music is ‘free’ or not having a ‘value’…is something in no way we believe in, as many of us at BitCandy are songwriters or artists ourselves), many ‘Free’ models after a few years have just not been able to work and gone out of business. Other platforms are running via legal ‘gray’ areas, for example: streaming files for free from a Google Cache, saying they don’t ‘host’ the files and therefore: not only do not pay for bandwidth costs but also are not obligated to pay the artists or songwriters any royalties.
