Why do you have to install a propeller rear cone dry, as in without lubricating oil?
Ok, the propeller cone must be installed dry because any extra oil in the engine can cause havoc. The engine’s oiling system will pressurize the oil and turn it into “hydrualuic” oil and allow the pilot to control the propeller angle of attack and feathering. Usually the engine is filled to the maximum, and has accomdations for extra oil used in propeller nose cones. I too have not been able to find written reference, but hear this warning over and over again. They just want to keep all the oil in the engine, and reduce the risk of improper oil used and once the engine is running the nose cone will fill up with oil.
