Why do you cover mainstream artists like U2, Daniel Bedingfield, and Lauryn Hill?
We strongly hold to the conviction that “Christian Music” is not something that should belong to or be separated away into its own subculture. As one of the guys from Switchfoot so aptly stated, “We are Christians by faith, not genre.” Christian Music should be another tool used by believers to fulfill the Great Commission, through the creation of great art. The fact is, the mainstream music community is filled with artists who claim to be Christians. But we are very careful and selective about those we choose to cover. While it is not our place to judge who in the mainstream is sincere in their faith and who is not, we do choose to cover only those that appear to demonstrate belief in Christ through their lifestyles. This is not an exact science, and we appreciate our readers’ patience and indulgence as in many cases, this is a highly subjective process.
