Why do you charge two prices for the Bootcamp? What is challenge pricing?
When I first started teaching these Certification Bootcamps, I would offer 1 or 2 full or partial ‘scholarships’ to deserving students. I found, however, that not one scholarship recipient ever progressed to the point of even signing up to take the exam. Invariably, it was the student who had put their money on the line to take the Bootcamp who would be successful. However, getting people motivated to sign up and take the exam was still a problem—at times, I thought that if the price for the Bootcamp was higher, students would have more of a vested interest in signing up and taking the exam–but I thought pricing was fair, and didn’t pursue it. About a year ago, I had a student contact me who told me that if he wasn’t Certified in Visual Basic 6 by the end of the year, that he would lose his job. He asked me to ‘hold’ a substantial sum of money in escrow for him—to be returned if, and only if, he passed the exam at the conclusion of the Bootcamp. Reluctantly, I agreed. 10 weeks lat
