Why do women get the bad rap for being gossips?
Many believe gossip falls solely into the female domain, but men also gossip. They just gossip differently. Firstly, there are times that they are engaging in a conversation that they may not consider gossip, such as locker room talk, kiss and tell conversations or some office politics. For other issues that they may think of as gossip they tend to share that with their romantic partners as opposed to friends, feeling that they are avoiding the gossip label. On the other hand, women will share gossip with both lovers and friends. And they tend to get into all the details, whereas men’s conversations may be much briefer and to the point. To anthropologists this is no surprise because while men were out hunting, women had to build a social network that they could trust and rely on.
