Why do we value original works of art more highly than their replicas?

We value them because most of the time the artist who did the original is dead and has be for many years, therefor it becomes rare because he will never make another one. So the original is worth a fortune whereas a copy is worth nothing even if it a real copy .You would most likely pay more for a real copy then you would for a print. But over all they both aren’t worth anything. When a piece of art can no longer be made by the artist then what he has already produced becomes priceless and it becomes rare and worth a lot of money but a copy of it is not worth the paper or canvas it s made on. On the other hand for those of us who can’t afford the real thing then we buy the copies only because we appreciate the artist so much, and want to see his work hung up somewhere in our homes. In closing there is nothing like an original.
