Why do we use glass on windows instead of perplex?

Building codes require glass rather than perplex in case there is a fire. Glass will shatter more easily allowing a fire to be ventilated or to permit rescue operations. Time is of the essence.

happy murcia nailed the head on the hit…ermm hit the nail on the head, ahem. (and gets a thumbs up for doing so). don’t think it’s been mentioned yet but standard glass is also really cheap, and easy to make, and plently of raw materials. It’s a bit off topic but Did you know that glass is technically a liquid. definition: LIQUID The state of matter in which a substance exhibits a characteristic readiness to flow, little or no tendency to disperse, and relatively high incompressibility. Glass accually flows although extremly slowly if you left pieces of glass in a contianer and left it long enough (possibly a few thousand years or more it would flow to fit the contianer) look at old windows on buildings (churches/old mills) and you’ll notice that it’s very distorted, not becuase it was badly made but becuase it’s thicker on the bottom than the top becuase gravity has slowly pulled the molecules down.
