Why do we need two sets of control solutions, the clear and the dark blue solution?
The new Accu-Chek Compact Plus system offers a new feature: automatic detection of control solution. This is an additional safety feature, because often the consumer tends to forget to flag control measurements. The unflagged control value would then be stored as a normal bg value in the memory and used for the statistics calculation. The automatic detection of Accu-Chek Compact Autocontrol requires a colour in the control solution. Today the clear Accu-Chek Compact Control solution is still on the market and patients need to check their system with that solution.
