Why Do We Need The Baptism In The Holy Spirit?
Jesus considered the Baptism in the Holy Spirit so important that he forbade his disciples to begin thier ministry until they have received it. “And while staying with them he charged them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, ‘You heard from me, for John baptized with water, but before many days you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ (Acts 1:4-5)” The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a doorway leading from a natural realm into a supernatural realm of life and experience. The average Christian, although professing Christ, operates largely on his own power, making his own decisions, living by his own strength, and controlling his own life. But through the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, the Christian steps out of the natural realm into a realm where he can begin to experience the supernatural gifts and powers of the Holy Spirit.
