Why do we have non-student days scheduled in the middle of the week on November 2nd and May 17th?

These are scheduled as non-student days because these are election days. It is very difficult to have school in session while our community is voting in our schools. Election Day presents school safety and logistical issues and it is best to not have school in-session on these days. These days are used as staff development days for our faculty.
