The north pole is never the south pole, because its at the north end of the Earth. Of course its only the north end because we decided it was. We could have decided that north was south. If you’re talking about Magnetic north, then yes the Magnetic poles will swap periodically. Those periods are extremely long, however, on the order of 300,000 years. EDIT: The earth’s magnetic north pole would actually be the south pole of a magnet due to the naming conventions we use to describe the ends of magnets. The “South pole” is any end of a magnet which points towards the Earth’s magnetic north pole.
