Why do water molecules have a special emphasis in biology?
We’ll, several reasons. First, because of hydrogen bonding, it takes a lot of energy to change the temperature of the water and this causes it to actually regulate temperatures. This is why Florida stays pretty warm, because the water is regulating the heat. Also, ice floats on water and acts as an insulator during the winter months. If ice didn’t float whole bodies of water would freeze and kill all life in it. Trees wouldn’t exist without the cohesive and adhesive forces of water. Trees use capillary action and draws water up to the tops of tree. Uh, water is needed for photosynthesis because when the molecule is broken, an eletron is taken from the hydrogen and the oxygen molecule is released into the atomosphere. Water can form 4 hydrogen bonds. Is polar, and therefore a great solvent (so salts and anything else polar or charged can dissolve in it). Obviously, most living things need water to survive.
