Why do unbalanced forces always produce acceleration?
Unbalanced forces produce a ‘resultant force’ one direction http://www.mansfieldct.org/schools/mms/staff/hand/lawsunbalancedforce.htm This website might help explain. If you don’t understand something on it, don’t worry. So let’s say the resultant force is 50N upwards. This force is constantly acting on the force. Using the formula F=ma, we get a=F/m. If the object is 50kg, then the acceleration is 50/50 = 1 m/s² [this is the units of acceleration] – this means that every second the speed of the object increases by 1 m/s. [Remember acceleration is the rate of increase of speed]. If you are still stuck, email me.
