Why do true Christians not engage in politics?

Most Christians do engage in politics, extremists are usually very conservative republicans.

There used to be a fundamentalist Christian belief that they should not engage in politics because “one is in the world but not part of it”. That all changed when the Christian Radical Right joined the Neo-Cons and started voting on mass.

Well… Jesus said “My Kingdom is not of this world” and the weapons that we fight with are not the world’s weapons (protests, politics, lobbying, maneuvering etc.) That doesn’t mean that we abandon our civic duty to vote and to be informed on the issues of the day, but our hope is not in political philosophies, or in a certain party being in power but in the work of God through his Holy Spirit changing the hearts and minds of men and women in this nation to love and serve one another.
