Why do they still design electrical outlets with 2 plugs?

I’m not shure how this is in the US, but i my country (norway) we also have outlets with four plugs. The reason why there’s only two, is because the outlet itself is inside the wall in a box with wires running from it to other boxes with other outlets and light switches. Imagine a 8 or 10 plug outlet, the box would need to be very big and in-practical. And the outlet would look rather ridiculous if it was the size of an A4 sheet.
