Why do the success rates between AP and Online High School courses differ so dramatically?

In point of fact, they probably don’t differ at all. Anecdotal evidence suggests that the pass rates for high school students engaged in college-level instruction, like AP courses and Online High School courses, are uniformly high. However, there is a difference! Passing an AP course denotes mastery of college-level subject matter not college credit (earning college credit requires a sufficient score on a test administered by the College Board.) Passing an Online High School course earns college credit because Online High School courses are college courses.
