Why do the same people phone into radio talk shows night after night?

I think the kind of behaviour you’re talking about is an addiction to. It’s an ego boost for regional acknowledgement & accomplishment. If you’ve ever rung a station, it can be hard to get on air. You’re left in a long line and normally cut off as soon as the broadcast topic ends. So there’s also a challenge in actually getting on air. I’ve tried it once, I didnt manage to get on. I don’t think I’d try it again because there are better avenues to voice an opinion. Online you can direct your opinion to those who share the same interests and actually WANT to hear you. I don’t think it’s quite the same as the internet because anyone with a connection can access 24/7. A radio talk show is more exclusive, bit more of a challenge.
