Why do the planets in our solar system revolve around approximately the same plane around the sun?

0

Because they were formed at the same time when a ball of gas and dust collapsed to form both the sun and the planets. Most of the matter fell into the centre and formed the sun but some of it, with much of the angular momentum, formed a disk which later condensed into the planets.
