Why do the parish leaders want another organ?
A pipe organ was initially in the plans for the church. A few parishioners, collectively known as Friends of the Pipe Organ, with the help of Christopher Powell, located a pipe organ of historical significance, the Baumgarten pipe organ. With the assistance of a well known organ builder, a plan was prepared to build a new instrument in the balcony that would maximize the churches acrostics as well as be aesthetically pleasing. Their idea was presented to Fr. Doug who then agreed to allow them to present the proposal to the Pastoral Council and the parish Finance Council. Both councils approved the project with some conditions (see questions 3, 4 and 5 for the essence of these conditions).
