Why do the normal-milky-color Clouds become/appear darker and darker just before raining?
Its not really the clouds that are getting darker, its the fact that the cloud tops are rising up the way very fast due to upcurents, this creats an illusion so that it looks darker at the base of the cloud ( what you see when you look up in the sky ) since there is more cloud to stop the light reaching through it.
