Why do the majority of Christians claim to be pro-life, yet support capital punishment?
I am pro-life and not pro capital punishment. The first murderer was sent into exile, cities of refuge were set up for those guilty of manslaughter when the law “thou shalt not kill” was given. King David killed Urriah in order to steal his wife, imagine both adultry and murder and yet he was forgiven. Jesus did not say an “eye for an eye” but said regarding his murderers ” Forgive them for they know not what they do”. Stephen a great preacher was stoned to death, he called the words of Jesus “forgive them”. Many of the apostles were put to death and did not ask for vengence. In the Foxes Book of Martyers Christians burning at the stake, never called for vengence. Vengence is mine, I will repay saith the Lord.
