Then, when those people become influential, they become good networking contacts for newer members of the secret society, so you’ve got people with good potential who have contacts who are successful and it makes it more likely they’ll be in positions of power later on. That’s why so many Presidents and others of influence have been members of secret societies including the Free Masons, but also others like Skull & Bones at Yale which included as members both George W. Bush and also his rival in 2004 John Kerry. Bush was the son of the head of the CIA and other members of his family were also influential, so Skull & Bones recruited him and he went on to become President largely on the strength of his network of advisors, principally Karl Rove.
